Texas Travel with Tots, Teens, and Tequila
Written by Christina

It's almost here, it's in the air, the mosquitos are buzzing and the streets are filled with the smells of backyard BBQ grills.  SUMMER!!!!!!!!!!  School is almost out and travel plans need to be made!  Are you ready?  Here are a few tips and pointers to get ya started sweets:

Last summer I did a Road Trip Blog  that received TONS of hits.  I guess you guys liked it!  Click on Road Trip to review the goods again!

Austin is Awesome!  Great town for everything!!  You have UT (yes, I put that first), The Texas Capitol, Barton SpringsBarton Creek, Zilker Park (this park is HUGE and just amazing!  So much to do!) Lake Travis, Chuy's Hula Hut, McKinney Falls!  Last but not least, SoCo!! I mean...are you kidding me?  If it were not for my hubs company we would live in Austin in 2 shakes of a lambs tail!

San Antonio is Spectacular!  The Riverwalk, Seaworld, Fiesta Texas, The Hyatt Hill Country (best place to stay with kids, hands down), Historic Market Square, and my favorite... Southtown!  All within arms reach!

New Braunfels is Nutty!  Been going here since I was a kid, even in my college days (not to sober and not too smart to travel the river in such a condition).  The river is incredible.  Great for kids of all ages, young and old.  You have the best Waterpark in the U.S. at your feet, Schlitterbahn, the Natural Bridge Caverns,  Canyon Lake, and my favorite little town Gruene!  Gruene Market Days is June 21-22, and it is spectacular!  It doesn't get any better.

Is there a small town or city in Texas that you like to travel to during Summer with your family?  Would love to know where ya go!  Oh, and why did I mention 'Tequila' in my header?  Cause you may need some after all this travel with your children.  So get a sitter, and stop by any Iron Cactus location at any of the 3 cities I listed above and choose from their selection of over 80 tequilas for a smashing cocktail!
Don't drink and drive.  Happy trails!

Christie Lacy Photography

You know I love her.  I praise her nonstop because I think her talent and heart are so unique.  My friend, my neighbor, my shoulder to cry on; Christie Lacy  is REMARKABLE when it comes to photography.  The Diva of Digital she rocks the lens and can captivate any child during your session.  Nina has been such a pill these days (the apple does not fall far) yet Christie can turn her back into her sweet self within a matter of minutes.  Even when I think, "There is not a chance you got one good shot from us today", she blows me away when I see the proofs.  AMAZING work!  Please see her blog right now for some killer deals:  The Fresh Family Contest  (ends this Friday so HURRY) and her  'Mommy and Me'  sessions for Mother's Day or any occasion (click link and scroll down).  Oh, and ask her about this little ditty:  Boudoir Sessions.  teeheeheehee... your hubby will be SO happy you did (no kids allowed for the Boudoir shoots mama).

XOXO

Children at Risk in Houston
Written by Christina
Thursday, 02 April 2009 09:08
 What is Advocacy?
An advocate is a person that speaks up for the cause of another individual or community; a person that defines a cause.

Why is it important?
Children do not vote, so their voices too often go unheard. Children and youth deserve to have government programs work in their best interest.

Thousands of Houston children are at risk and the cause will blow you away:  Human trafficking.  Houston has become the 'hub' for human trafficking, slavery, and exploitation of children.  The Children at Risk  Group is working hard to educate our community and our children, as well as providing a leadership roll in child advocacy.  You can help this cause by donating directly  or attending an upcoming event:
April 3rd:  Craig Ferguson Stands up for Houston's Children
May 4th: 8th Annual Melissa Wilson Golf Classic

Thank You!

Cypress Dentist ROCKS!
Written by Christina
Thursday, 12 March 2009 20:20
Ok, so not many kids are big fans of going to the dentist.  Luckily for us Nina's Aunt Jenny is a hygienist and has always been a big part of her 'teeth' upkeep (I slack in that department and I'm her mother!!) and worked for one of the best Pediatric Dentist in Texas as far as I'm concerned.  Sadly the drive to Clear Lake from Cypress has finally starting taking its toll and I broke down to find a local Dentist.  I have to admit...I didn't think anyone was going to match the 'skills' of  Dr.Thompson Bogert  of Clear Lake (I still think he hung the moon and if I lived in or near the area I would not have switched).  But low and behold I was referred to Dr.Joe Pierce D.D.S.  in Cypress and I am soooooooooo very glad!!  HE ABSOLUTELY ROCKS!  The office is way too cool, the decor is so fun (I know, things like that don't really matter but you can't help but notice), the staff is all out AWESOME with children, and Dr.Pierce was incredible with communicating with me and Nina.  Nina could not stop giggling and laughing the entire time we were there.  Kudos to the office of Dr. Joe Pierce D.D.S.!!

See you in a few weeks to fill-in Nina's cavity creeps!  And yes, we are flossing!!
Cheers!
